Gallatin County has repeatedly shown itself among the most vigorous enforcers of Governor Bullock’s ‘mask mandate,’ requiring citizens to wear Covid-19 ‘burkas’ to slow the spread of the virus that is exponentially less fatal than Montana’s Planned Parenthood clinics. On July 14, the Gallatin County Health Board stormed out of their own meeting after citizens showed up to a public hearing to demand they follow the laws for public meetings, as it related to a possible mask mandate (later made unnecessary by Bullock’s own order). Later, the Gallatin County Health Officer expressed indignance after Vice President Pence didn’t ask his permission to hold a rally there. Some officials, like I Ho Pomeroy have insisted residents wear masks and socially distance, even though she attended crowded Black Lives Matter rallies without such restrictions.
Now it appears that Gallatin County is making a new effort to get residents to wear the largely unnecessary and ineffective coronavirus facial diapers. They’re bribing residents to wear the facial acutrements with ‘prizes’ if they go out in pubilc with face coverings to breathe their own bodily exhaust.
According to one local newspaper, “Businesses and ambassadors will distribute 5,000 game cards to people wearing face masks in public and to “front-line employees” as part of the “Mask Up Gallatin” program.” The residents will then be able to go online and enter the code on those cards to see if they win a prize.
Prizes ostensibly include tickets to the “Bridger Bowl, Big Sky Resort and Spire Climbing and Fitness Center” as well as “gift cards to area businesses and merchandise from sponsors.”
Four people have died in Gallatin County from various pre-existing ailments who happened to have been positive for COVID-19.
Terry Cunningham, a commissioner for the city of Bozeman said, “It’s meant to put a smile on people’s faces…”
How anyone will know they have a smile on under their mask is anyone’s guess.
The Facebook group, Gallatin Unmasked, had some interesting comments from local residents who are tired of the mask mandate or who stand conscientiously opposed to the mandate. One user posted the photo of a mask that read on the outside, “Kiss my ass” (see left).
Another commenter said, “[Here is a] List of program supporters and price providers. Places you may want to put on your “do not spend money with again” list (see below).
Yet another commenter added, “How frickin stupid can you be, you idiots. Face masks are worthless and dont even try telling me to wear one you [expletives].”
