New Study Finds Masks Hurt Schoolchildren Physically, Psychologically, and Behaviorally

A new study, involving over 25,000 school-aged children, shows that masks are harming schoolchildren physically, psychologically, and behaviorally, revealing 24 distinct health issues associated with wearing masks.

The health issues and impairments observed in this study were found to affect 68% of masked children who are forced to wear a face covering for an average of 4.5 hours per day. The study also includes 17,854 health complaints submitted by parents.

Some of the health issues found in the study include: increased headaches (53%), difficulty concentrating (50%), drowsiness or fatigue (37%), malaise (42%), and nearly a third of children experience more sleep issues than they had previously and a quarter of children developed new fears.

Though these results are concerning, the study also found that 29.7% of children experienced shortness of breath, 26.4% experienced dizziness, and hundreds of the participants experiencing accelerated respiration, tightness in chest, weakness, and short-term impairment of consciousness.

The study authors noted the lack of unbiased research on this topic:

“There are no manufacturer-independent studies on the use of masks for children and adolescents that are certified as medical products for occupational safety in professional applications. In addition, due to the unknown materials used, there are no findings on the potential protective effects or side effects of the often home-made ‘everyday masks’ worn by the majority of children. In view of the ongoing measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, and in particular the varying obligations for children and adolescents to wear masks in school over a longer period of time, there is an urgent need for research.”

  1. I hope no one actually is fooled into thinking this is a real academic peer reviewed study. It’s not. It’s just a self published article by some professors of a small private college in Berlin. It’s likely bunk.

      • This link you posted is a 2015 statement. The above study would be more reliable than your old data. And my kids can be added to the 30%, so I do believe it’s accurate being that both of mine are having issues too. I’m sure many others are having problems too. Glad to see someone speaking out.

    • New study submitted by the National Institute for Fake News: all studies are biased based on the media outlet. Citizens urged to research outside of traditional news outlets. Governmental agencies teaching the art of war and combat strategy have taught that where there is censorship- to start digging. You’re over the target Houston.

    • This is the problem I see with too many people. Your comment “it’s likely bunk” says you’ll likely never look into it further. As a parent I choose to diligently search both sides of the argument. One thing I know for sure is to say “it’s just a mask” is negating any psychological issues that would be created by children growing up in a world where they never see other humans smile or are told to be afraid to hug grandma as you could kill her, or she could kill you. Breeding fear in our young is a far worse crime than most who believe in masking for the foreseeable future are willing to admit.

    • Regardless of who wrote it it is child abuse to put children in masks for any time at all. They don’t work, they are frightening and dirty and do cause all the health issues found in the article. The masks must go permanently. Fact, not opinion.

  2. @Joe – If it said masks were great and 3 masks even better, you’d be applauding “the brave independent researchers from this small centre of excellence.” Weasel words and weaponised adjectives have stopped working: we see you.

Bless these German scientists, a country well aware of the dangers of agenda-driven pseudoscience.

  3. In other words, limiting oxygen intake and overwhelming the lungs of children with CO2 stunts their development into consequences that can drag on for their lifetime because their parents cannot think for themselves what is best for their children.

    • Who would have thought? All these people trying to force kids to wear a useless mask should tie a plastic bag around their own face for a day. That would solve a lot of problems.

      • If you are able to keep them at home, DO! They can add my 2 kids to this study! My oldest started to get an eye twitch after the first month of school (not sure if related, but never had before). My youngest, 4, has breathing issues now (99.9% sure this is related). Of course his doctors didn’t want to here it & my boys were discharged in the waiting room without the doctor even seeing them. Obviously, a mask debate in front of everyone and throwing the fake death rate in my face was more important than listening to my child’s lungs. So now I have to find another doctor because I spoke up & suggested this was cause by mask!!!!!!! They have been in school since the normal opening with mask all day even at PE😡

    • Exactly. I have been fighting this for my kids since the beginning. I cannot bring myself to send them back everyday with a mask. We are 2 half days and i can barely agree to that. There is no reason these kids cant take their masks off while seated and learning. We can do it at a restaurant but not school? Bs.
