Endorsement: Brad Tschida for Secretary of MT GOP

As with Legacy Press outlets in Montana and most other statewide newspapers, the Montana Daily Gazette makes endorsements for candidates who we believe best represent the values of our readership.

In order to make an endorsement, we apply the following criteria:

  • Candidates who vote according to the Constitution of Montana and the U.S. Constitution, which requires voting ‘no’ on bills that are sometimes supported even by GOP leadership
  • Candidates who believe in local control of government, so long as local governments are abiding by the constitutional rights of their citizens
  • Candidates who support the lives and liberties of all Americans, both born and unborn
  • Candidates who believe that coordinated wealth redistribution through forced taxation schemes that treat different citizens unequally under the law is a moral issue (and qualifies as theft) and is to be opposed
  • Candidates who support objective reality and absolute truth in matters related to human biology
  • Candidates who have the legitimate capacity to win elections, or in some cases, whose candidacy – even if they cannot likely win – will send a message that conservatives will not be taken for granted as a voting block of the Republican Party without being prioritized by our leaders.
  • Candidates who are not associated with the Solutions Caucus, a group of Democrats who run on the Republican ticket, or in some cases, Republicans who do not stand by our party platform
  • Candidates who are generally accessible to the voting public and their constituents, who answer their emails, respond to texts, or pick up the phone to talk to voters in recognition that they are public servants and taxpayers are their employers
  • Candidates who reject Critical Race Theory, and who refuse to employ an ideology that divides identity groups rather than unifies individuals

Previously we have endorsed Lola Sheldon Galloway for MT GOP Vice Chairman and Derek Skees for GOP Treasurer. We have been unable to endorse Don “K” Kaltschmidt for Chairman of the GOP because he has been unwilling to vocally state opposition to the inclusion of the Democrat-wing of the Republican Party. While we presume Kaltschidt is a conservative, we cannot tolerate GOP leaders who share our convictions in hypotheticality, but bend under RINO pressure to give them representation in the wrong party (we’re looking at you, Llew Jones).

However, as with Rep. Sheldon Galloway and Rep. Skees, we have no doubt that Rep. Brad Tschida will serve Montana well while in party office and will maintain his values without compromise.

Reportedly, Nelly Nicol will run against Tschida for the office of secretary. Nicol ran for state auditor against victor, Troy Downing, in 2020, losing the Republican primary. Montana Daily Gazette has no interest in describing Nicol as a “RINO” (as we did with Skees’ opponent, Terry Nelson), but this is primarily because to us, she is largely an unknown character.

Brad Tschida, however, is not. Tschida has been instrumental for years in Helena, keeping the Republican Party to the right and keeping Montana Montana. We would highly recommend voters at the MT GOP Convention vote for who they are sure will represent conservative ideals. And in the race for secretary, there is only one person who meets that criteria; Rep. Brad Tschida.

Bringing you conservative news and commentary means it is tough out there on social media. We’re constantly getting kneecapped and constrained by tech companies who find the truth intolerable, resulting in our reach being severely throttled.
