Emails obtained through the Freedom of Information Act have revealed that the Biden administration tightened up and implemented more severe masking guidelines as a result of a major Teachers Union threatening to level the White House with sustained and savage public criticism.
The emails, which were obtained by the watchdog group Americans for Public Trust through FOIA request and given to FoxNews, reports how after the CDC announced back on May 13 that fully vaccinated people could stop wearing masks indoors, the National Education Association (NEA) sent a blistering letter to White House officials, on account of what this would mean for children and teachers masking in schools.
Before the NEA could release their statement publicly, they were contacted by White House Director of Labor Engagement Erika Dinkel-Smith, asking them to hold off for a bit so they could weigh in on the remarks, which said in part:
After further consulting with the White House, the NEA released a statement with a much gentler tone, and after this, NEA President Becky Pringle arranged a one-on-one CDC Director Rochelle P. Walensky on May 14th about their ongoing concerns.
This was because the teachers were refusing to teach students if the students weren’t going to be masked and were concerned about other teachers, support staff, and parents coming into the school unmasked, even if they were vaccinated.
The next day, on May 15th despite the CDC saying two days prior that fully vaccinated persons did not have to wear masks indoors, they did a complete 180 and updated their masking guidelines to say that everyone in schools needed to wear masks, irrespective of their vaccination status- a guideline which was quickly adopted by the White House.
The fact is that the CDC has taken every position imaginable and has continued to update its policies and practices not based on new scientific discovery or new information, but rather as a result of public pressure from powerful establishments hell-bent on pursuing their own public interests.
