Flathead Warming Center Prepares for Grand Opening-Oct 16th

The Flathead Warming Center has come a long way and is a wonderful asset to the Flathead Community.

Volunteers are quickly preparing for the winter months and invite all to come to the Grand Opening.

KALISPELL, MONT. — The Flathead Valley Warming Shelter is undergoing major renovations ahead of winter.

Some new additions to the shelter include three heated showers for visitors, a washer and dryer on-site, locker spaces throughout the building, and 40 beds.

Warming shelter executive director Tonya Horn says Montana winters are harsh, and it is not safe for people to be in their cars, under bridges, or in sheds. If you need help, you are welcome.

“We’re trying to get ready for when it’s really cold, and we don’t want people to be staying in their cars; that’s dangerous. We want people to come inside to warmth and safety,” said Horn. “Here in the Flathead, we take care of each other, and that’s what the warming center is all about.”

The Warming Center is located on North Meridian in Kalispell.
