Governor Greg Gianforte took a swipe as the cartoonishly inept President Biden this morning, raking him over the coals for his administration’s failure to get a hand on skyrocketing inflation, and berating him for his inability to “show some fiscal discipline” on account of the worrying impact it has on Montana families.
With inflation climbing to 9% in the Rocky Mountain West, hardworking Montanans continue to pay more at the pump and the grocery store.

To get inflation under control, @JoeBiden and Congress should show some fiscal discipline, like we do in Montana. https://t.co/wm43NVt313
Gianforte was citing a new report released today, showing that the consumer price index for all items rose 0.6% last month, resulting in a 7.5% increase overall. This is the biggest gain in nearly 40 years, and far higher than Wall Street estimates.
Used cars are up 40%. Fuel oil is up 46%, and food costs jumped almost 1% since last month, now totaling a 7% increase year-over-year, putting more pressure on Montanans struggling to keep food on the table.
In a statement, Bident intoned: “While today’s report is elevated, forecasters continue to project inflation easing substantially by the end of 2022.” meaning that at best, we have another 10 months of this.
Unfortunately for us, Biden has not shown any ability to get this under control, and it’s likely these prices will only continue to rise.
