As the embattled Congressional District 1 candidate Ryan Zinke continues to flounder and flail over revelations that he lied to an ethics investigation and abused his authority over a land development deal, his opponent Dr. Al Olszenski wasted no time in giving his opponent a few proverbial punches to the head, decrying his corruption and positioning himself as the natural, scandal-free, and honest alternative.
Two days ago, Federal watchdog investigators ruled that Zinke violated his ethical obligations in a Whitefish Development, with a report being released explaining:
In light of these communications, we found that Secretary Zinke failed to abide by his ethics obligations in which he committed not to manage or provide any other services to the Foundation after his appointment as Secretary of the Interior. We also found that Secretary Zinke did not comply with his duty of candor when questioned by the DOI’s then Designated Agency Ethics Official (DAEO) about his continued involvement in Foundation matters, including the 95 Karrow project. In addition, we found that Secretary Zinke misused his official position in violation of Federal regulations by directing his subordinates to assist him with matters related to the Foundation and the 95 Karrow project.”
In a press release by Dr. Al, he highlighted the claims against Zinke, writing:
“The news today regarding Ryan Zinke’s ethics violations and immoral behavior while holding a federal cabinet position should come as no surprise. Zinke has long been one of the most corrupt persons in Washington. He’s been investigated 18 times for various ethics violations and abuse—from improper use of taxpayer funds to exploiting his office for political gain, today’s news is just the tip of the iceberg. Ryan Zinke is a dishonest man. He’s lied to the government and he’ll lie to Western Montanans.”
“As the race for Montana’s new Western Congressional district heats up, Zinke is already on the defensive over a long history of liberal policy positions. The new developments related to his moral standing will no doubt place him in an even tougher uphill battle.”
One of the liberal policies Dr. Al is likely referring to is the fact that he lied about his abortion record before hundreds of witnesses, and has voted pro-choice on some very important votes, an act of betrayal that will not be soon forgotten by conservative voters. Dr. Al also highlighted his opponent’s long time entrenchment in Washington, contrasting to his own life experiences, which include a reputation as “Flathead Valley’s best orthopedist”, a veteran of the U.S Air Force, decade+ as a mobile trauma surgeon, and lastly his stellar and near impeccable conservative record in the Montana House of Representatives and State Senate.
We at Montana Daily Gazette have no doubt that Zinke would be disastrous for the state, and simply cannot trust him to represent conservatives well. We have spent a lot of time and energy purging the democrats from the government, and then from the Republican party, and Dr. Al’s fiery condemnation only highlights the need for change.
Anyone wanting to learn more about Olszewski’s campaign and support him may do so HERE. We have no interest in the corrupt and confounding Zinke ever representing us again, and neither should you.
