AG Austin Knudsen Investigating GoFundMe after Suspending ‘Freedom Convoy’ Fundraiser

Attorney General Austin Knudsen continues to do the Lord’s work, this time by launching an investigation into the crowdfunding giant GoFundMe, after they suspended the campaign for Canada’s Freedom Convoy which raised over $10,000,000.

Speaking to the Daily Wire, Knudsen explained that his agency was probing to determine whether or not the company’s actions violated Montana’s Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Act. While GoFundMe ultimately decided to automatically refund donors, it was only after great pressure and after reversing themselves several times.

“This is something that very likely had Montana donors participating, given Alberta literally shares a border with us. We have a lot of citizens in Montana who are either dual-citizens or do business on both sides of the border. For GoFundMe to just step in and say ‘Oh, well we don’t like this, we’re going to seize this money and put it towards something else,’ that certainly raises suspicions.”

Knudsen is also skeptical of the reasons given why the campaign was suspended. GoFundMe says that the convoy violated their terms of service, which includes campaigns based on ‘hate, violence, harassment, bullying, discrimination, terrorism, or intolerance of any kind relating to race, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, serious disabilities or diseases’ but that’s not something the campaign ha been known for, adding:

“Nothing that I have seen personally suggests that this was in any way a violent or hateful group. I’m looking out for Montana consumers.”

He is right to be skeptical, as violating GoFundMe’s TOS on account of “violence” and “harassment” has been the pretext the governing authorities have used to justify their monstrous, crushing behavior. The Government of Canada has been cracking down on members of the protesters in a big way, with multiple leaders being arrested after tyrannical and child-like Prime Minister Justin Trudeau skipped reasonable actions to clear the blockade and immediately went straight to the nuclear option by invoking the Emergencies Act, and then likewise suspending parliamentary debate on it on Friday.

Many Canadians turned to another crowdfunding source GiveSendGo to support the truckers after the suspension of the GoFundMe, but their account was hacked and the perpetrators released the names of donors into the public domain, causing banks to freeze the accounts of Canadians who donated, and in some cases, people have been fired from their jobs for donating to the protesters.
