BOZEMAN, Mont. — Montana officially sees the highest recorded fuel prices at the pump in the state’s history. The average cost for regular fuel is now $4.21 per gallon.

That beats previous records set in 2008.

Diesel is now up to about $5.44 per gallon.

“We’ve really never seen a situation like this. Globally, this all has to do with the price of oil, and the price of oil was going down; it was under $100 a barrel a few weeks ago. So prices started to decrease, but now it’s back up north of $110 a barrel,” AAA spokesman John Treanor said.
