In what will be the last debate before the June 7 primary, Republican candidate hopefuls vying for the western U.S. House district will be debating in Whitefish tonight at the Performing Arts Center at 7:pm.
Hosted by the Montana Farmers Union, the debate will center on how these congregational delegates will shape public policy around rural communities and take them seriously, as well how they will help Montana’s agricultural industry, including farming and ranching, which is the state’s chief export.
The Montana’s Farmers Union was ‘was born from the need to create a unified voice in support of the family farm and against those that would deprive them of fair standards, economic value, and decency’ and so the debate will reflect those value.
Some of the topics will likely include “right to repair” – which is something that every candidate should be aggressively supporting, the price of seed and feed, access to health care, water rights, and even access broadband internet.
Not all candidates will be attending, however. Al “Doc” Olszewski, Matt Jette, Mary Todd and Mitch Heuer will all be there slugging it out, while to no one’s surprise, Ryan Zinke will be skipping this debate, as he has a tendency to do, making a name for himself as an absentee candidate.
According to MFU, these debates will have live audiences and will be broadcast on ABCFox/SWX and Northern AG Network radio statewide.
