The following pictures were taken driving through Highway 28 and heading toward Elmo. The fire did not cross or jump the road and only burned the bottoms of most of the trees in that area; however, the dry grass was torched.
The side-by-side comparison is unbelievable, and all who helped quench this fire are to be commended. Airplanes flew in to help extinguish the fire by scooping up vast buckets of water and ground fighting fire crews.
The fire is now 55% contained, with five homes lost and multiple structures.
